Ah, the sun!

For those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere, sunlight in winter can be a fragile thing, often fleeting, here one moment and gone the next, to return one knows not when. So when the days begin to get a touch longer and the sun chooses to surprise when least expected and blast its merry way into the fabric of a day, well, it’s a rather lovely thing.

Today, there was sun!

With the sun come thoughts of Spring. And with thoughts of Spring, we must have thoughts of gardens! To ponder, to plan, to create anew. Whether flower or vegetable, bush or herb, the idea of flourishing fruitful beauty waxes most poetic to the winter heart that longs for a balmy breezy afternoon, a salad fresh from the soil, and a petal or two of buds to enhance the mood. Of course waxing poetic brings with it tones of love.

And tones of love, when dwelt upon for more than a millisecond, carry with them endless possibilities of a life full of magic and wonder. One kissed by the fairies and blessed by the angels. And a bite or two of chocolate too (of the dark variety, obviously).

Thus come thoughts of a garden of love. But of course!!

So if you’re feeling kissed by sunlight, drink from the cup of its beauty and magic to the very depths of your being, allow the love that bubbles up from within to flow forth from your imaginative heart like a waterfall of shimmering light – and enjoy the day.

For love is the answer to all things. And a garden tended with love can turn the whole world into a blessed thing.

Whispering…

WHISPERING
by Aliana Alani ©2019

tall grass (3)

I walk along a hilltop at night,
whispering…

I whisper to the earth and stars,
the waters and the forests.

I whisper to grasses, long and short,
and to the many flowers
that dance in winds both gentle and strong.

I whisper to critters, large and small,
who wander through mountains and deep valleys.
And to the ones that fly,
I whisper. I whisper.

This is what I say when I whisper.
I say:
I love you. I love you.
Be well now. Be well.

All night I walk along the hilltop, whispering.
All night, whispering,
I love you. I love you.
Be well now. Be well.

Can you hear me?
Are you listening?

I love you. Be well now.
Be well.

Everything…

EVERYTHING

morning dew

Everything that you are
Every cell, every molecule
Every bit of star dust
is You

Twinkling in the night sky
Sparkling in the morning dew
Laughing for the sheer joy of it

Everything that you are
is You
And everything
is who You are
Everything

Amazing, isn’t it

It’s that time again!

shamrocks for st patrick's dayAlright, all you bits of starlight out there – it’s that time again!

SO, get out there, kiss a leprechaun if you can find one (they’re a wily group, wonderfully mischievous and gorgeous fun, so watch out!!), wear all things green (or at least one), and if you must, go do ‘the green beer’ thing too (not my favorite way of marking the day but…). We do not recommend colouring whatever river happens to be nearby, but since Chicago has gone and done it, well what the…!

Quote Yeats, Beckett, a bit of Myles na Gopaleen if you can (look that one up), wax poetic about the slow air, and generally give a thumbs up and a GOOD GOD, YOU’RE WONDERFUL to the day.

That would ST. PATRICK’S DAY, in case you missed the clues.

And to all my dear and beautiful friends in The Green – Love ya bunches – Wish I was there!!

HAPPY ST. PAT’S DAY, EVERYONE!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

shamrockYes, it’s St. Patrick’s Day. The day of The Green.

So be bold – go dance in the winds, throw shamrocks to the stars, kiss the Blarney Stone if you’re at the Castle, wax poetic if you’re not, remember good friends (Ireland’s great for finding the best of them), drink a Guinness or two and toast the magic, spout Yeats, Beckett, Heaney, or Joyce, revel in the music of tin flutes, bohrans, and Mary Black singing ‘Ireland’ – and then, for sure for sure, welcome that gold bucket full of love and luck into your life, and celebrate the day.

Happy St. Pat’s Day Everyone!
